At some point early in this water play B explained to T how he (B) couldn't leave him (T) alone with the water. If T were to go to sleep in the water he might breath it in, and then he would get very sick. That discussion is what apparently lead T to want to help people in the pond.
We took T to the pediatrician today. We determined he had had a runny nose for a month and has not been sleeping well for that long, but definitely about two weeks. The boy is on Amoxycillan again and our hope is that it will help with his sleeping. So far tonight he already woken one time.
Other news: fully clothed in shorts, t-shirt, and heavy shoes, with a saggy diaper he was 37 pounds. I was expecting him to be closer to 40 as he seems so big and is really heavy sometimes. I keep thinking I will throw out my back picking him up, but so far so good - just good arms. This proves though that he is really losing the chub. He has hovered around 35 pounds for awhile now, and does appear more slender.
We saw the nurse practitioner today, who was the last to see him in the office, at the beginning of the summer, May perhaps. She commented on how tall T has gotten and how he is really looking like a boy and not a toddler. In one sense I am very happy about that - he is really getting fun - but in another, he is my baby! I told T again last night that he would always be my baby. He replied, "No, when I grow up I won't be your baby. I'll be a teenager." Then my baby snuggled up to me and said, "Let's snuggle."

My Facebook post:
Dinner was yummy though B wasn't thrilled with a salad dinner. "Good fruit!" he said. I loved the shrimp - marinate for 10 minutes in olive oil, lemon juice, S&P, crushed garlic, and fresh rosemary, then roast in a 400 oven for 10 minutes. Put over a lemon juice, olive oil, S&P, minced garlic dressed salad of rocket (arugula), shallots, radishes, and garbanzo beans (the recipe did not include radishes, and was to be red onion and cannelli beans, but I made due with what I had and loved it.)What a day! roasted rosemary shrimp over rocket salad with garlic bread and yummy fruit, then a pile of laundry that included 6 pair of 4T underwear and accompanying shorts and pants from 'underwear day'. It did include one success, but four crying fits from the little one wanting it to be diaper day.
So, underwear day... tried to talk it up, but the little one would have none of the hype. None of the you-are-a-growing-up-preschooler. "I don't want to go to preschool!" he said. "I don't want to wear underwear! I want a diaper, put on a diaper, put on a diaper, put on a diaper..." as he melted into a pile of tears. I might have thought he was trying to get more M&M's for sitting on the potty, but he told me after earning one that he wanted to save it until after snack - which he didn't really eat.
Speaking of M&M's, one of our Kindermusik friends told me what they give for bribes - 1 M&M for sitting on the potty, 3 for pee, 5 for poo. I guess we need to up our M&M's. T gets one for pee and a sticker for sitting on the potty. Trip to ice cream if he does poop on the potty. Course he does so little of any of this I think it isn't much motivation. He tore down the sticker chart after throwing the diaper he wanted me to put on him at me.
Another source of tears today - I got T a cow bank he got to paint. He was very excited about this Holy Cow 'piggy' bank. When we got it home (after Kindermusik, the tire store (another story), and the fabric store) he could not accept that he could paint it after nap. "I take a short nap!" and he laid down on the floor right next to the cow. In a minute he sat back up and said, "Nap over, now I can paint my cow!" Later, after painting it, he became distraught when I wouldn't let him hold and carry around the wet cow. Mean me for not wanting a wet-paint cow on my living room coach... A mush of muddy colors it's pretty cute. T can't wat to introduce it to his other piggy bank - the silver-plate one that used to me mine when I was his age.
At dinner (leftover andouille sausage gumbo that T poured milk in) I asked T what his favorite part of the day was - playing outside early, Kindermusik, the tire store, the fabric store, painting the cow, yard work, or watching Daddy put the seat on his sandbox? He answered, "raking." The boy loves to rake. Today we made a pile of magnolia leaves that he jumped in a few times and loved piling up and raking apart. My favorite part of the day? Either napping with T or playing the face mismatching game before Kindermusik. Or maybe it was how absoultely adorable he was in the fabric store.
T picked out green thread he just had to have. We found some 1/2 off flannel in polka dots to make into PJs for him (the red color way and the light blue colorway) I got some 50/50 linen/cotton in aqua and more in chocolate brown to make into a skirt fo me (yeah, one of these days). I hope I can do these projects before we both grow out of the amount of material I purchased!
Last thing, I've taken my car to the tire store three times this week and have to go back again next week. I had a slow leak in one tire and needed a rotation. Turns out I haven't had them rotated in the two years since I bought the tires (oops!). Turns out they think the buldge I have had since almost day one was the cause of the slow leak and could cause blow out (eek!). So Monday they told me to come back Tuesday after they ordered the tire. Tuesday they told me that the buldge tire and the other front one were separating because of not being rotated B checked it and it is true). Also that I had a nail in the sidewall of a third tire. Out of four tires, only one was still in good shape! But since they only ordered one tire Monday I had to come back to replace the other two. We did that today (after discussion of whether to replace three). Then, because of confusion about where the suspect tires were (due to them finally being rotated), someone didn't pay attention to what they were doing and gave me back the car with all the nuts loose on one tire! Eeek! When I gave the car back to them 'cause something didn't sound right, the guy started to drive my car back into the bay and the back tire was an inch away from coming off!! Seriously, you have never seen so many people run out of place as those saying, "Stop! Get the hand jack!" You can bet they checked the nuts on all the tires after that. Only thing is that one of my chrome nuts got lost and they have to order a new one. I have to go back again... Uhg! So now I better remmeber to rotate these on time!

I'm going through my email inbox and there is an email from Piperline (online shoe retailer from Gap corp.) that says, "What You Need for Fall". I'm thinking, "Yeah right, lets see what they think I really must have." I open it and they are showing Frye boots. So then I'm thinking, "Yes, yes, yes!" Slowly over the last couple of years I have come to decide that I really must get some Frye boots. Maybe this will be the year...
