"Mommy, panthers crawl," T said dryly and in explanation as he looked back at me in the dining room. He was on his hands and knees; I was trying to be mommy panther on her hind legs. It didn't go over.
T woke up twice last night demanding milk. He was almost quite desperate for it and water. I asked if he was having bad dreams, but he didn't respond. The second time he woke he said, "I want you to get in bed with me." So I did, except the little guy was in the middle and there isn't room for me to squeeze in too if he is in the middle. He said, "This isn't very comfortable." "You'll need to move over a bit for me to fit in," I said. He tossed around a bunch throwing a leg over me, then half is body over my legs. Eventually he said quietly but forcefully, "Get out." So I left, only to have him call again, and to the point of panicing a little while later. He ended up in our bed and slept until 7 am.
I'm working on my grocery list while I try not to fall asleep. Today was the big company pig out where we all brought in Thanksgiving goodies to feast on. It was quite a lot of food...Anyway, this is the big grocery list that hopefully won't over stuff my fridge (um, yay, there is no room now.) I had to reference two recipes that are standbys for leftovers. One day of leftovers is about all B can do, so those recipes make nice meals that use up the bits and pieces that haven't been eaten yet:
- From Cooking Light magazine - Jack Quasadillas with Cranberry Salsa
- From Sunset magazine - Turkey Chowder
+++++++++++++++++++++++
Edit... next day... fridge is not overstuffed! The turkey is in the basement in the cooler with a little ice. Hopefully it will thaw slowly that way. Fingers crossed no one gets sick!!!!
Have not planned out my cooking timeline and am feeling a tad anxious about it. Though I am making simple things, knowing when exactly I need to be making everything would be helpful! I also don't have a fully formed thought on what we are having - despite having done the main shopping last night.
I think I still need to get a few herbs - sage and thyme - and celery as what I have I discovered had to mostly be thrown away. Anyway, I got an email from Martha Stewart's Everyday food and will contemplate these recipes:
- Apple Stuffing
- Simple Stuffing
- Roasted Harvest Vegetable (carrots, sweet potatoes, and butternut squash)
- Roasted Carrots and Parsnips
- Garlic Mashed Potatoes
- Roast Turkey with Sage and Roasted Turkey

- Bailey Katherine Designs very cool fingerprint jewelry. When I visited Dad and Letitia in Wilmington Letitia and I went to a favorite little nearby shop called Ziabird. A very cute, nice, helpful and professional young woman helped us. I was looking at some dresses (and cool belts) that turned out to be from Carol Hannah Whitfield of the recent Project Runway fame (No time to try for sure, but didn't think they would work on me and too expensive for me, but cute!). After leaving I checked the web and Carol Hannah linked to the the fingerprint jewelry which is designed by the young woman who helped us.
One night recently T had his bath before dinner. He had a great time in the bath. When he got out and was heading to his bedroom for PJ's he did a hop-jump and turned around putting his hand out in a questioning position, "Oh! We forgot to eat dinner!"
There have been LOTS of funny things said so I will try and remember more to add.

T and I had a rough night tonight for part of it. During a quite time he put felt pieces on the felt board I made him forever ago and that he has not played with. He wanted more lines to make 'a lot of snakes' so I pulled out some felt and my scissors and cut more for him. B called for dinner (taco night, now to become one of the dinners B will cook for us), and I told T I would cut one more line then it was time to wash hands. I cut it, but he still had several pieces to put on the board so I cut another one. T said quietly, "Mommy, you don't always do what you say you are going to do."

We are trying to crack down on some of T's behavior that we don't like and have him 'do more around the house.' Here is one thing we are doing to this end. When he finishes dinner he must ask us if he can be excused. If we say yes he can get down, but then must push in his chair, put away his bib and his milk (if in a sippy or travel cup), and wash his hands with us. For a long time he has had a hard time attaching his velcro closure bibs around the oven door handle where we 'store' them. Recently however he figured out how to do it all by himself. Now one of the rituals is we can't watch as he does it. When he is done he comes and gets us and says, "I have a surprise to show you." He points out the bib all hung it's place and we praise him. We then do a big hug. He loves it.
+++ +++ +++
T loves talking nonsense and putting words together. He also loves making up silly names. Unfortunatly the names and how he says them can come off sounding mean rather than funny as he intends them (we think). He might say with a big grin and sparkling eyes, "Mommy you're a table-head!" Or "Daddy you're a puttie-tootie-noodie head." We've been asking him if he is making a joke, as well as in some situations telling him he is not being freindly and he needs to not use certain language. "Words can hurt," has come up several times and I think I will be buying the book before too long.

First off, B is OK. And the woman and child in the car that plowed into him are also OK. However, this really sux!
Due to where it was, one block a way from a major hospital and very close to the busy interstate, one firetruck, two ambulances, two police, and another paramedic were at the scene in five minutes or less. At least four witnesses, including a homeless man, stuck around to vouch that B was not at fault.
